Meet Dr. Matthew Tinnel, DDS
Dr. Matthew Tinnel
Dr. Matthew Tinnel, DDS, serves patients of all ages at Peculiar Family Dental in Peculiar, Missouri. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in Olathe, Kansas. Dr. Tinnel earned a degree in genetics from the University of Kansas before attending law school and practicing medical malpractice defense. He then pursued dentistry at UMKC, graduating in 2010.
After dental school, Dr. Tinnel completed a postgraduate General Practice Residency at Truman Medical Center in Lee’s Summit. He later returned to Truman as the GPR Director in 2015, where he taught and practiced oral surgery, dental implants, endodontics, sedation, and comprehensive general dentistry.
Clinical interests and sedation dentistry
Dr. Tinnel’s clinical interests include emergency dentistry, dental implants, snap-in dentures, All-on-X treatment planning, root canal therapy, oral surgery, Invisalign, and sedation dentistry. He is certified to provide IV sedation in a general dental practice setting, a rare qualification among Missouri dentists and an important option for appropriate patients with dental anxiety or complex treatment needs.
Care philosophy
Dr. Tinnel enjoys helping patients understand their options, feel comfortable during care, and get the dental treatment they need in one familiar office. Peculiar Family Dental welcomes Medicaid patients and serves families throughout Peculiar and nearby Cass County communities.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Tinnel enjoys spending time with his wife Jenny, who is also a general dentist, working on home improvement projects, and watching his three sons play sports. He also earned his private pilot’s license while in dental school.
